Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the pressing flaw of a steel strip after high-temp. annealing owing to falling of stuck powder by coating electrostatically the powder particles of a separating agent for annealing to the steel strip from the bottom surface thereof just prior to coiling on a coiler side from an idler roll. CONSTITUTION:The powder particles of a separating agent for annealing are electrostatically coated to the bottom surface of a grain oriented electrical steel strip S by a gun 4 of an electrostatic powder painter disposed below the steel strip between an idler roller 2 and a coiler 1 in the stage of coiling the strip S with the coiler 1. The gun 4 and the strip S are electrified reverse in positive and negative polarities. The strip S after the electrostatic coating treatment is coiled with the coiler 1 and is subjected to high-temp. annealing. For example, magnesia clinker is used as the separating agent for annealing. There is no exfoliation of the film owing to contact with the roll, etc. and the pressing flaw after the high-temp. annealing owing to falling of the stuck powder to the gun and the peripheral part thereof is prevented according to the above-mentioned method.
