Abstract

PURPOSE:To surely supply ink and at the same time to reduce the labor of operator, by a method wherein the operation of feed means and the output of alarm are worked for a fixed time by the output signal from a detection means, and at the same time when the amount of ink in a ink reservoir part does not reach a required amount after the fixed time has elapsed, another alarm output different from the former alarm output is worked. CONSTITUTION:As the pressure feed operation of ink is started, a timer circuit 21 is turned on and the timing of the maximum pressure feed time Tmax is started. However, the liquid surface 3A of ink only slightly rises and the detection level 3B of liquid surface is not reached. In that case, when the maximum pressure feed time has elapsed from the starting time point of pressure feeding, the timer circuit 21 is turned off, the pressure feed apparatus 11 being turned off thereby and the operation of pressure feeding is ended. Further, at that time, the lighting of a lamp 23 is changed to an intermittent flashing. By this change of alarm output, the fact that the ink tank 13 is vacant and its exchange is required, is reported to the operator.

As shown in the figure, the ink liquid chamber 3 is divided into an ink storage part having a vent a8 on the right side in the figure, which is opened by a thin tube part 3C, and an ink supply part for the nozzle part 4 on the left side.
An air vent plug 16 is provided on the ceiling of the ink supply section. The reason why the ink liquid chamber 3 is divided in this way is to minimize the effects of liquid level fluctuations and bubble generation that occur when the carriage 1 moves back and forth.

In the conventional device, in order to reliably supply ink to the nozzle part 4, electrodes 5A and 513 are provided in the ink supply part and the ink storage part of the ink liquid chamber 3, and the conduction between these quasi-electrodes through the ink is detected by a comparator. The height of the ink liquid level 3A in the ink liquid chamber 3 is detected by detecting the height of the ink liquid level 3A in the ink liquid chamber 3, and the detection result activates an alarm means such as a lamp (not shown) or a buzzer (not shown). The operator is prompted to replenish the ink.

In response to this alarm, the operator opens the opening of the supplementary ink tank 6 and replenishes the ink chamber 3 by letting ink flow into the ink chamber 3 due to the head difference between the replenishment ink tank 6 and the ink chamber 3. It was common practice to return the liquid level inside the tank to a normal level.

However, due to the previous drop in the liquid level, the thin tube part 3 of the ink liquid chamber 3
If air bubbles are generated in the nozzle section 4 or the ink chamber 3, the air bubbles cannot be removed only by the ink inflow pressure due to the head difference during refilling and the pressure due to the rise in the level in the ink liquid chamber 3, and recording will not be possible for a while after ink refilling. quality may deteriorate.

However, if the water level in the ink evaporates and the liquid level drops due to long-term non-use, rather than due to a drop in the liquid level during use, the viscosity of the ink has increased, and the pressure and level of the inflow due to the head drop. It is difficult to recover the bubbles only by increasing the pressure, and it takes time for the viscosity to return to its old value.

In addition, in order to prevent the generation of bubbles and increase in ink viscosity as described in L, it is desirable to maintain the level of the ink liquid level 3A in the ink liquid chamber 3 as high as possible, but in order to do this with the above configuration. If the liquid level detection level aBQ is made high, the inconvenience arises that the above-mentioned ink replenishment operation must be performed frequently.

According to the above-described pressure feeding and alarm operations of this embodiment, the ink liquid level 3A does not reach the liquid level detection level 313 until the maximum pressure feeding time i''max has elapsed after the start of the force feeding operation, and liquid level detection is performed. If not, the pumping operation is terminated and
Since the continuous lighting of the lamp 23 during pressure feeding operation is switched to intermittent flashing, two types of notices 2 and 2 have the same permission: one is a notice instructing the operator to definitely replace the ink tank 13. Since the lamp 23, which is the information output means, outputs the information in different expressive ways (the information output means can be constructed in a small size and at low cost).

Further, in the pressure feeding operation, if the ink liquid level 38 reaches the liquid level detection level 313 before the maximum pressure feeding time i7m a If this is the case, the pumping device is further driven for a predetermined normal operation time from the detection time regardless of the maximum pumping time Tmax, and the ink liquid level 3A is raised to an appropriate amount level even higher than the liquid level detection level 3B. I am made to do so.

Therefore, if the above normal operation time is extended and the level is set to a level sufficiently higher than the detection level 3B, the ink liquid level in the ink liquid chamber 3 will always be maintained at a high position, and air bubbles in the nozzle part 4 will be prevented. This prevents the generation of the ink and the increase in ink viscosity in the ink chamber 3, and also prevents erroneous detection of the liquid level due to fluctuations in the ink liquid level 3A due to the movement of the carriage 1°. Since the frequency of falling at detection level 3B is reduced, excessive repetition of alarm and pumping operations is avoided.

In addition, since ink is supplied by a supply means using a pump, etc., if the ink viscosity increases or air bubbles are present, the ink can be supplied at a higher pressure than the conventional method, which relies only on differences in liquid level. Since the air bubbles can be removed quickly, the ink viscosity can be returned to the appropriate 10 value more quickly.

Furthermore, in the embodiment described in L, the inflator 13 is of a replaceable type, but it may not be a replaceable type and may be one that replenishes ink. In that case, the start circuit 22 detects whether or not this ink is refilled and operates. You can configure it like this.

As is clear from the explanation below, according to the inkjet recording apparatus of the present invention, a predetermined amount of ink is stored in the ink chamber when the maximum supply time ('l'max) described above has elapsed after the start of the ink supply operation by pressure feeding. If the amount is not detected, the supply operation is terminated and two different types of alarms are output from the alarm during the supply operation, so an alarm instructing to replace the ink feeder 7 or to replenish the ink is issued during the supply operation. Note: The ink tank replacement will be reliably instructed and the ink supply will be reliably performed. In addition, by outputting two types of alarms, one during the supply operation and one indicating an ink tank replacement instruction, using different expressions using the same alarm means, the alarm means can be configured to be inexpensive and compact.

If the predetermined amount of ink is detected before the maximum supply time (Tmax) has elapsed, the supply operation will be carried out according to the normal operation time mentioned above from the time of detection, so that the ink level in the ink chamber will always be kept high. 7E is removed, so there is no need for frequent feeding operations, and air bubbles are removed and C. The recording operation including normal ink ejection is compensated. - In addition, since the ink supply operation is automatically carried out by the ink replenishment means, the operator's effort involved in replenishing the ink is reduced (he only has to replace the main ink tank or replenish the ink).
