Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an anvil for forging consisting of prescribed percentages of C, Si, Mn, Cr, Al, Ti, Co and Fe and the balance essentially Ni and having superior strength at high temp., sag resistance at high temp., breaking resistance and wear resistance required by an anvil for forging.
CONSTITUTION: This anvil for forging consists of, by weight, ≤0.20% C, 0.01W 2.5% Si, ≤3.0 Mn, 10W25% Cr, 0.5W5.0% Al, 0.5W4.0% Ti, 10W35% Co, ≤5.0% Fe and the balance essentially Ni. The anvil has superior characteristics required by an anvil used in forging work such as superior strength at high temp., especially superior resistance to the sticking of scale. The anvil can be used as any of top and bottom anvils, and it is used in the form of a flat anvil, a mortar- shaped anvil (V-shaped anvil), a tap anvil, a convex anvil, a concave anvil or the like.
