Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce the titled compound useful as a raw material of pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, etc., easily, by using an inexpensively and easily available vinyl ether as a raw material, reacting the vinyl ether with a halogen, and treating the reaction product with a base.
CONSTITUTION: A vinyl ether is made to react with a halogen (preferably chlorine or bromine) at ≤80°C, especially at -10W+30°C. The amount of the halogen is preferably 1W10mol per 1mol of the vinyl ether. The reaction product is treated with a base to obtain the objective compound. The base is an alkali metal salt of a lower saturated fatty acid, etc. such as sodium acetate, and its amount is ≥0.5mol, preferably 1W10mol per 1mol of the vinyl ether. The vinyl ether used as a raw material is a compound represented by the formula R1O CH=CH-Y (R1 is methyl, ethyl, etc.; Y is CN, etc.).
