Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the altitude of land over a wide range by irradiating the land with a beam over the wide range, using two antennas and changing frequencies, and processing reception signals of each frequency as to the two antennas. CONSTITUTION:A frequency sweep oscillator 1 oscillates at an optional frequency to transmit a signal from a transmitting and receiving antenna 4, and its reflection echo is received by the transmitting and receiving antenna 4 and a receiving antenna 13 and converted by mixers 5 into respective phase signals; this is repeated for respective frequencies of the frequency sweep oscillator 1 and complex amplitude data on a frequency axis is obtained from phase signals. This is supplied to a Fourier transform computing element 11 for Fourier transform to obtain distance coordinate axis data, and respective data are inputted to a phase comparator 12 to output a high-order phase difference signal, and a coordinate computing element 14 measures the altitude and horizontal surface distance of a destination.
