Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the circumferential length of a drum shorter than the length of transfer paper even when a development and cleaning combining system is adopted, by forming an image by two rotations of the drum, and executing a cleaning of the drum by the next two rotations. CONSTITUTION:While a photosensitive drum 18 executes two rotations, an electrostatic charge and an image exposure by an electrostatic charger 19, development by a developing and cleaning device 22, and transfer by a transfer device 23 are executed. A nylon brush of a toner stirring device 21 contacts the frum surface, but since it haa an insulating property, it doen not disorder a latent image, but only stirs a residual toner of the first rotation. Since the residual toner layer is thin, it exerts no influence on an image exposure of the second rotation. At the time of the third and the fourth rotations. the photosensitive drum 18 is irradiated by a destaticizing lamp, the residual toner charged in reverse to the original electrified pllarity by the electrostatic charger 19 is stirred by the sitrring device 21, and it is removed from the photosensitive surface by the developing and cleaning device 22.
