Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the speed of a moving body with high precision, by simplifying the constitution of the transmitter and receiver of a speed sensor which finds the running speed of a moving body by mounting on the moving body and utilizing Doppler effect to remove the influence of the emission angle of a transmit beam to the running surface of the moving body exerting upon speed detection. CONSTITUTION:The transmit signal emitted from the transmitter 9 at right angles to a main surface is scattered by a signal reflecting surface and a signal of frequency close to the oscillation frequency of a pulse oscillator 15 is extracted by band-pass filters 10 and 11 from two received signals of receivers 7 and 8. Then, the frequencies of the output signals of the band-pass filters 10 and 11 are read by frequency reading means 12 and 13 and the running speed of the moving body is calculated 18 by Doppler effect from the difference between the obtained two frequencies. Namely, the running speed of the moving body is found from the frequency difference between the received signals received by said receivers 7 and 8.
