Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a button-type alkaline cell with improved safety by forming the positive electrode container of the cell with an amount of nickel more than the electrochemical equivalent of the positive electrode. CONSTITUTION:In a button-type alkaline cell using mercury oxide, manganese dioxide, silver oxide, etc. as an active material of a positive electrode, a negative electrode made of zinc and an alkaline electrolyte, the positive electrode container is formed with an amount of nickel more than the electrochemical equivalent of the positive electrode, preferrably two times or more. Even if this button-type alkaline cell is swallowed by mistake, the nickel container of the positive electrode is not bored by the gastic juice and no alkaline leakage occurs, thereby resulting in little effect on the human body.
