Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the camber in the transverse direction of a strip without exchanging work rolls by detecting the presence or absence of the transverse camber of the strip during dry temper rolling and adjusting the roughness of the work rolls by adjusting the abrasive grains of the work rolls according to the degree thereof. CONSTITUTION:The camber in the transverse direction of a strip 1 which is completed to temper rolling is measured during traveling with a detector 3 for transverse camber and the measured value signal thereof is outputted to an arithmetic device 6. The device 6 calculates the required values for polishing of polishing machines 4a, 4b which polish the work rolls 2a, 2b of a temper rolling mill 5 (the fore-stage stand except the final stand) from the measured value. The output signal thereof is delivered with an amplifier 7 to the machines 4a, 4b, so that adequate roughness is produced on the work rolls 2a, 2b.
