Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain stable combustion of an engine, by determining the timing for ending fuel injection from the operational conditions of the engine at the time of its low- load operation, and determining the timing for starting fuel injection from the operational conditions of the engine at the time of its medium-and high-load operation. CONSTITUTION:At a step 6, judgement is made on whether the engine load is high or low by detecting whether the datum injection quantity is greater or smaller than a prescribed value. In case that the engine load is judged to be low, the timing for ending fuel injection is determined by using the engine speed and the datum injection quantity as parameters, and the timing for starting fuel injection is obtained by substracting the injection period from the detected timing for ending fuel injection. In case that the engine load is judged to be medium or high, on the other hand, the timing for starting fuel injection is determined from the engine speed and the datum injection quantity. By employing such a method, it is enabled to attain stable combustion of engine.
