Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a titled device which causes superplastic deformation in a work by heating dies to a prescribed temp. in a hermetic chamber in which a manipulator can be inserted and an upper die provided with a heater can be moved upward and downward, maintaining atmosphere of a vacuum or a specific gas therein and pressurizing the dies. CONSTITUTION:An upper die vessel 1 fitted airtightly to a lower die vessel 5 is descended and dies 2, 6 are heated to a prescribed temp. by a heater 9 enclosed with a heat insulating material 11. The vessel 1 is moved upward and a work is inserted into the vessel by a manipulator B through a sluice valve part. The work is subjected to superplastic forging by the dies 2, 6. The atmosphere in the hermetic chamber is evacuated to a vacuum by a vacuum pump 15 according to need or a specific non-oxidative gas is fed therein from a cylinder 12 and is regulated to a prescribed internal pressure by a pressure regulating valve 14. Intended hot superplastic forging is accomplished under the specific temp. and for working time within a specific temp. range by the above-mentioned operation.
