Abstract

PURPOSE:To make smooth the rotation of a rotary sleeve, by communicating a balance groove formed in the inlet side peripheral surface of a center housing with a suction port through a check valve. CONSTITUTION:When a rotary compressor rotates, high pressure air in a working chamber 43 being at a maximum pressure or in a discharge chamber 41 flows into an air-bearing chamber 40 through an inlet port 71 in the contact area so that bearing load force on the contact area is increased. Then air flows through the contact area into a suction side of a center housing 22, and therefore, increases bearing load force on the suction side of the air-bearing chamber 40 through a balance groove 73. When bearing load force or pressure in the balance groove 73 exceeds a predetermined limit, a check valve is opened to maintain always the bearing load force in the balance groove 73 within an appropriate range.
