Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the roll-seizing flaws of a shape steel by using the odd-numbered passes of the 1st intermediate rolling consisting of rough, edge, and universal rollings for performing the web rolling of a blank to shorten its bellows and using the 1st pass of the 2nd intermediate rolling for biting the blank from its flange part. CONSTITUTION:In rolling a H or I-beam from a beam blank 3, the odd-numbered pass of roughing rolls 4 are used for rolling the web of blank 3 and the even- numbered passes are used for rolling its flange part, to prevent the spreading of bellows. The odd-numbered pass by the edging rolls 5 of the 1st intermediate rolling 7 is used for strengthening the web, and the even-numbered pass by the edging rolls 6 is used for intensifying the rolling reduction of the flange part by vertical rolls 6a, 6b to make also the bellows short. In the 2nd intermediate rolling, the flange part is well bitten at the odd-numbered pass by universal rolls. Thus, by making the bellows short and biting the blank 3 by rolls from its flange part, the generation of roll seizing flaws due to roll eccentricity is prevented and the yield is improved.
