Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the resolution of a regenerated picture without increasing CCD rows for an image pickup element by using green or white filters as segments at every two line and employing mosaic color filters using other lines as red, yellow or blue or cyanic segments. CONSTITUTION:First segment rows 31... are constituted by green filters G and yellow filters Y, and second segment rows 32... are constituted by green filters G and cyanic filters C. Photo-charge signals (g) of a green component are obtained from photoelectric conversion regions P'1, P''1 of odd number and photo- charge signals (g+y)/2 of the green component and a yellow component from photoelectric conversion regions P'2, P''2 of even number regarding CCD rows of odd rows. Mixed photo-charge signals (g+c)/2 of the green component and a cyanic component are acquired from photoelectric conversion regions of odd number and the photo-charge signals (g) of the green component from photoelectric conversion regions of even number regarding CCD rows of even rows. Luminance signals (x), red signals (r), gree signals (g) and blue signals (b) required for regenerating a picture are extracted through a signal processing means.
