Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the temp. decrease of a billet by disposition of a flying shear in a dummy bar housing space right behind the machine end and to obtain the high temp. billet by disposing a dimmy bar housing device in the midway of the horizontal machine body part of a continuous casting machine and providing the flying shear right behind the machine end. CONSTITUTION:A dummy bar 38 is housed to the intermediate of a continuous casting machine 18 to eliminate the space for installing a dummy bar housing device just behind said machine so that the temp. decrease of a billet owing to natural cooling during said time is eliminated. A flying shear 42 which cuts the billet at a high speed without burring the cut face of the billet and without loss in the yield of cutting is disposed just behind the machine end owing to the intermediate housing of said bar, by which the traveling stroke is considerably decreased and the temp. decrease of the billet owing to natural cooling during said time is decreased; at the same time, the need for deburring process is eliminated and the temp. decrease of the billet during said process is eliminated.
