Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate handling of a disc brake and its mounting demounting to/from a car by holding an anchor pin fixed to a pad mount plate by a cantilever to callipers' rear arm, allowing it to slide, locating the installation of the anchor pin near the center of callipers body, and thereby making the callipers body and pad backing metal in small size. CONSTITUTION:Inner pad backing metal 5d is fixed to a pad mount plate 6, and an anchor pin 8 fixed to both sides of this pad mount plate 6 is inserted slidably in a through hole 1c provided in callipers body rear arm 1d. When pressure oil is introduced in a cylinder 4 the inner pad 5 is pushed out into sliding contact with a disc rotor 13, and an outer pad 9 comes in sliding contact with the rotor 13 to produce a braking force. At this time, the anchor pin 8 slides in said through hole 1c to make protrusion a little, in order to transmit the braking torque applied to the inner pad 5 to a support 2 through callipers body 1.

The caliper body is supported floatingly on a support fixed to a non-rotating part of the vehicle, and the rotor that rotates with the wheel is compressed by the outer and inner pads supported on the caliper forearm and caliper rear arm, respectively, to generate braking force. Conventionally, in floating caliper type disc brakes, for example, an anchor pin is fixed at both ends between the caliper forearm and the caliper rear arm, and the outer pad and the inner pad are slid on the anchor pin. The resulting braking torque is transmitted from the caliper body to the support. In such a pad support structure using anchor pins,
Because the anchor pin is installed between the forearm and rear arm of the caliper, it is necessary to position the anchor pin on the outside of the rotor, especially for large floating caliper types used in railway vehicles etc. that use multiple cylinders. In disc brakes, the caliper body and pad back metal are large, and the point of application of the combined braking friction force between both pads and the rotor moves away from the guide pin, so a slight deviation can cause stress on the guide pin. This resulted in the application of torque.

The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned circumstances. The backing metal of the outer pad is fixed to the forearm of the caliper, the backing metal of the inner pad is fixed to the pad mounting plate, and the anchor pin fixed to the pad mounting plate is attached to the caliper. It is an object of the present invention to provide a floating caliper pongee disc brake that can be cantilevered on an arm and can be slid to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks.

In FIGS. 1 and 2, 1 is a caliper body, and 2 is a support fixed to a non-rotating part of the vehicle. A caliper body 1 is floatingly supported on a support 2 by a plurality of guide pins 3. Each 4 is caliper body 1 rear arm 1
A piston is fitted into the cylinder provided in the cylinder so that it can move forward and backward, and the piston is still in contact with a pad mounting plate 6, which will be described later. The inner pad 5 is fixed at both ends thereof to the pad mounting plate 6 at the ears 58' of the inner pad back metal 5a with bolts 7 at the ears 6a. Reference numeral 8 designates an anchor pin, which has an annular seat 8a at its tip, fits into the counterbore 6b of the pad mounting plate 60, and brings its top surface 8b into contact with the inner pad back metal 5m. The shaft portion 8c is slidably inserted into a through hole 1c provided in the rear arm 1a of the caliper body (see FIG. 3).

The outer pad 9 is pushed out by five degrees and comes into sliding contact with the rotor 13, and in response to the reaction force, the outer pad 9 is guided by each guide pin 3 and comes into sliding contact with the disc rotor 13 to generate a braking force. At this time, the anchor pin 8 fixed to the pad mounting plate 6 fixed to the inner pad 5 slides in the through hole IC formed in the rear arm of the caliper and protrudes slightly, thereby transferring the braking torque applied to the inner pad 5 to the caliper. It is transmitted to the support 2 via the body l.

The floating caliper type disc brake according to the present invention is provided with a cylinder in which a piston is fitted in the rear arm of the caliper body so as to move forward and backward, a pad mounting plate is still in contact with the piston, and an outer pad back metal is in contact with the forearm of the caliper body,
In a floating caliper type disc brake in which the caliper body is supported by guide pins on a support fixed to a non-rotating part of the vehicle, the inner pad back metal is fixed to the pad mounting plate, and the anchor pins fixed on both sides of the pad mounting plate are attached to the caliper. The anchor pin is installed in the rear arm of the body by being slidably inserted into the nine holes and fixed in place to withstand braking torque, and by being slidably inserted into the caliper body as a cantilever type. Since the position can be placed closer to the center of the caliper body, the caliper body and pad backing metal can be made smaller than before, and handling and installation and removal from the vehicle are easier.

Furthermore, since the point of action of the resultant braking friction force between both pads and the rotor is closer to the guide pin, there is no need to worry about excessive torque being applied to the guide pin.
