PURPOSE:To improve the crevice corrosion resistance in a weld zone in the stage of welding austenitic stainless steels by forming the weld metal of an Ni- Cr stainless steel contg. a slight amt. of Pb. CONSTITUTION:The weld metal in the welded joint part of austenitic stainless steels used in liquid contg. Cl<-> ions is composd of the Ni-Cr stainless steel contg. <0.08% C, <1.0% Si, <2.0% Mn, 16-22% Cr, 8-14% Ni, <0.05% N, or further contg. <1.0% Mo. The weld metal contains 3-12% delta-ferrite in the amt. calculated by delta=3.2(Cr+Mo+1.5Si)-2.5{Ni+30(C+N)+0.5Mn}-24.7, and has the excellent resistance to crevice corrosion in water contg. Cl<-> ions.
