The device 5 obtains the ratio of the speed of revolution between the take-up reel drive disk and the feed reel drive disk. The value of this ratio is stored in a storage device 6, to know the length from the tape top as well as the length from the tape end. The output signal of the device 6 is supplied to the input terminal of one side of a comparator 7 to be compared with the present ratio.
