The min. thickness (he) in the thickness reduced part is he<h as compared to the thickness (h) of the material 1, but the relation between the average width b2 of the deflection and a rolling width b1 is b2>b1 and the area (shaded part) in the thickness reduced part is approximately equal to hXb1, which indicates that no longitudinal deformation by the rolling is generated. The deflection is virtually annihilated when the material passes between the deflecting rollers, and does not obstruct coiling of the material.
