Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a controller in rolling and treating installations by controlling the crown and flatness of plates to desired values throughout the entire stage of rolling and treatments. CONSTITUTION:The slab out from a blooming mill or continuous casting machine 1 is fed to a hot strip mill 2 by which the slab is hot rolled. When the preceding end of the hot rolled hot coil arrives at a scanning type X-ray thickness gage 5 provided on the outlet side of the mill 22, the thickness in the width direction of the hot coil is measured. The hot coil out from the mill 2 is fed to a pickling line 3, where the surfaces thereof are treated. The treated coil is fed to tandem cold mills 4 by which the coil is cold rolled, and the flatness of the plate is measured with a flatness meter 6.
