DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a room-temperature surface-curable organopolysiloxane composition, and in particular, it is an object of the present invention to provide a composition suitable as a sealant.

Traditionally, it has been used to fill gaps that occur at joints in buildings, around sashes, insets in glass, cracks, etc., to provide waterproofing,
Examples of so-called sealing materials that provide airtightness include solvent-free elastic sealants such as silicone, polysulfide, or polyurethane, emulsion-type elastic sealants such as acrylic butyl, and non-elastic sealants such as glass putty, silicone putty, and oil-based caulk. Sealing materials and the like are known.

Generally, when a stretching force acts on the sealant after sealing, high stress acts on the adhesive interface between the applied base material and the sealant, especially if the application is not appropriate or the sealant shows deterioration or fatigue phenomena. Partial peeling occurs at the bonded surfaces, and stress concentrates on the remaining bonded portions, resulting in further deterioration or increased peeling, resulting in full-scale peeling and causing accidents such as water leakage.

Among the above-mentioned solvent-free elastic sealants, silicone sealants have superior weather resistance, durability, fatigue resistance, etc. compared to other sealants, have a small permanent deformation rate after curing, and have extremely good elastic properties. However, these properties are only satisfied when complete adhesion is achieved or when this complete adhesion is maintained for a long period of time. If defects (hindrances) were found, not only would the original performance not be fully demonstrated, but it could also cause fatal accidents such as water leakage.

On the other hand, inelastic (plastic) sealants do not have recovery properties, so when they are deformed by external forces, the internal stress is small, so the load placed on the bonding surface is small, and even if multiple adhesive gaps occur. Although it did not expand further, it did have problems in terms of appearance.

Furthermore, emulsion-type or solvent-type sealants that contain water or solvents harden while evaporating them, so they tend to shrink in volume and cause cracks, etc. As the sealant changes, its flexibility gradually decreases, making it difficult to follow even the slightest movement of the base material, causing the sealant to lose its original function and requiring repair and re-installation relatively soon after installation. had.

To explain this, the present inventors have conducted intensive research on organopolysiloxane compositions that have both the physical properties of conventional elastic sealants, especially silicone sealants, and the excellent adhesive properties of non-elastic sealants. The present invention was completed after confirming that a composition consisting of the above-mentioned components (a) to (b) is extremely effective for this purpose.

In fact, when the composition of the present invention is filled into the joints of buildings, the surface of the composition quickly hardens and turns into a rubber elastic body. It maintains its tackiness and exhibits good adhesion to various substrates, and this adhesion does not deteriorate at all even after a long period of time.

In other words, with conventional elastic sealants that require an undercoat, if the undercoat is not applied uniformly (uneven treatment is observed), peeling will occur from that area, and conventional inelastic sealants or mastic Silicone sealants exhibit good adhesion or adhesion in the initial stage of construction, but within a relatively short period of time they increase in hardness and may peel or wrinkle the surface, impairing the appearance. Since the composition of the present invention adheres well even to a substrate surface that has not been subjected to undercoating treatment, the complicated step of undercoating treatment can be omitted, and there is no fear of partial peeling.

First, the diorganopolysiloxane whose molecular chain ends are blocked with hydroxyl groups as component (a), which is the main component in the present invention, is a known diorganopolysiloxane that has been conventionally used as a main raw material for silicone rubber. For example, R' in the general formula % represents a monovalent hydrocarbon group, including an alkyl group such as a methyl group, an ethyl group, a propyl group, or a butyl group, and an alkenyl group such as a vinyl group or an allyl group. Examples include aryl groups such as phenyl and tolyl groups, and groups in which part or all of the hydrogen atoms of these groups are substituted with halogen atoms such as chlorine atoms or organic groups such as amino groups.

If the viscosity is less than 100 cS, a cured rubber elastic body with excellent physical strength cannot be obtained; on the other hand, if the viscosity is more than 1.000,000 cS, it will not be possible to obtain a cured rubber elastic body containing this material. The composition of the present invention has a high viscosity, resulting in poor workability during use.

Furthermore, when an alcohol compound and an alkoxy group-containing organosilicon compound are used together, there is no particular restriction on the ratio of their use, and it may be determined as desired in consideration of the types of both, the use of the composition of the present invention, etc. As the filler, which is a component (used in the present invention), there can be mentioned various fillers that have been conventionally added to silicone rubber compositions, such as fumed silica, precipitated silica, and quartz powder. Examples include diatomaceous earth, titanium oxide, aluminum oxide, iron oxide, carbon black, bentonite, calcium carbonate, clay, glass beads, PVC beads, and acrylic beads.
