Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize reception of images in response to a PAL/SECAM of an NTSC/PAL/SECAM system from a component obtained by demodulating the carrier chrominance signal underwent the modulation of carrier wave suppressed amplitude and a component obtained by demodulating the SECAM carrier chrominance signal. CONSTITUTION:Either one of a color TV signal of a PAL, SECAM or NTSC system is supplied to a terminal 1. The carrier chrominance signal of the PAL signal is separated by a filter 10, and the PAL signal undergoes R-Y and B-Y demodulations after the burst signal is eliminated by a burst extracting circuit 12b. The demodulated chrominance signal is delayed one line by a delay circuit 36 and then synthesized with a direct signal by a synthesizing circuit 40 to be turned into a desired signal. When the SECAM signal is supplied, the characteristics of the filter 10 are changed to suit with the SECAM signal. Then the SECAM signal is turned into a desired signal after demodulation of frequency. The chip area can be reduced when an IC is formed with a combined circuit.

On the other hand, recently, with the spread of broadcasting and the diversification of media for conveying video information, the number of areas and opportunities where it is possible to receive or receive complex color television signals has increased, making it possible for a single device to receive television signals of multiple formats. Many television receivers are also manufactured. Those that can receive images using the above three systems: PAL and SECA
In addition to those that can receive images using the M2 method, and in addition to the above three methods, those that have a color subcarrier frequency of 4.433618 MHz (hereinafter referred to as
There are also devices that can receive signals of a total of four systems, including an NT SC signal (referred to as Modified MT SC) which is abbreviated as 4.43 MHz. Since these receivers process color signals of various systems, the color signal processing circuit inevitably becomes complicated, and the number of parts and man-hours also increases. However, since it is large in area or volume, problems are likely to occur when used in multi-system small color televisions. Therefore, the simplification of the circuit for processing multi-system color television signals.

In FIG. 1, the color synchronization circuit and the so-called known PAL switch circuit are omitted to simplify the drawing. The B-Y demodulator 105a performs synchronous detection using the supplied B-Y axis reference carrier wave, and the B-Y axis is synchronously detected.
-Y color difference signal can be changed. On the other hand, the carrier color signal of the R-Y component obtained by the subtraction circuit 1Q4b is supplied from the color synchronization circuit and is sent to the R-Y demodulator 106b which performs synchronous detection using the R-Y axis reference carrier wave provided via the PAL switch. Synchronous detection is performed to obtain an RY color difference signal. The color difference signal obtained in this way passes from the contact 101a of the switch 7 through the middle point 10C to the terminal 120a, where the RY color difference signal at the time of PAL reception is obtained, and to the terminal 12ob the contact 108 of the switch 108.
The RY color difference signal passing through 8a to 108c is obtained.

On the other hand, when receiving SECAM color television signals,
In the case of this conventional example, the color television signal input from the terminal 101 passes through a bandpass filter 112 commonly called "Be/I/Filk", and the SECAM carrier color signal is separated and extracted. As is well-known, the carrier color signal of the SECAM system consists of two color difference signals (R-Y) and (B=Y) that are switched line-sequentially for each horizontal line, pre-emphasized and band-limited, and then each The color subcarrier is frequency modulated and superimposed on the luminance signal. This subcarrier is switched for each horizontal scanning line, and the subcarrier frequency when the color difference signal is zero (i.e., achromatic color) is 4.40625MHz for the R-Y signal and 4.40625MHz for the 5B-Y signal. 4

Since it is a frequency modulated (FM) signal in this way, the carrier color signal, that is, the FM signal obtained through the bandpass filter 112 is subjected to amplitude limitation in the limiter circuit 113. The amplitude-limited FM signal is divided into two paths, one of which is sent as a direct signal to the line switching circuit 114.
The other one is sent from switch 106 to delay line 109 to obtain a delayed signal.

As mentioned above, the SECAM carrier color signal consists of an FM signal carrying the R-Y component, an FM signal carrying the B-Y component, and an FM signal carrying the B-Y component.
- Since the FM signal carrying the Y component is transmitted line-sequentially, the switching circuit 114 alternately switches between the signal passing through the one-line delay line 1'09 and the direct signal not passing through, sequentially. Make the signals simultaneous signals. This switching circuit 114

must be switched so that two color difference signals are correctly obtained. For this reason, switching control is performed using a line identification signal superimposed on the horizontal back porch. In the conventional example shown in FIG. 1, the line switching circuit 114 is operated by an output signal of a flip-flop driven by a horizontal pulse, although illustration is omitted to simplify the drawing.

By adding circuits such as 111b and 111b, input and output impedances of the delay lines are matched to minimize reflections (echoes) and signal transmission delay time errors. For this reason, these circuit components remain as peripheral components during semiconductor integrated circuits, making the circuits complex and expensive. Further, delicate adjustment of the inductance value is required. Unfortunately, there is a difference in transmission characteristics between the delayed signal and the direct signal, which is affected by the transmission characteristics of the ultrasonic delay line, so PAL and SEC

Furthermore, since both the delayed signal and the direct signal are processed as carrier waves, line crawling disturbances are likely to occur on the screen due to crosstalk between the two signals. This is particularly noticeable since the SECAM signal is line sequential.

A TSC color television signal is input to input terminal 1. First, in the case of receiving a PAL signal, a carrier color signal is separated and extracted from a PAL color television signal input from terminal 1 in a bandpass filter 1o, and amplified in an ACC amplifier 11 with required gain control. The burst signal is removed from the output signal of the ACC amplifier 11 by a burst removal circuit 12a using a gate pulse applied from terminal 2, and only the burst signal is extracted by a burst extraction circuit 12b. The burst-removed carrier color signal is carried by conductor 13.

As shown in the conventional example in Fig. 1, conventional PAL signal processing uses a one-line delay line at the stage of the carrier color signal (4.43MH2), adds the direct (non-delayed) signal and the delayed signal, and adds the B- The carrier color signal of the Y component is subtracted, separated into carrier color signals of the R and Y components, and each is demodulated to produce a color difference signal. However, in this embodiment shown in FIG. 3, no addition or subtraction is performed on the delayed signal. The carrier color signal is demodulated as it is, and the demodulated R-Y color difference signal component passes through the conductor 29a to the switch contacts 31a to 31 of the switching circuit 3o, and the contact 34C of the switching circuit 33.

It is centered at the middle fO of 4.406 MHZ, and has characteristics that have necessary and sufficient linearity. When a SECAM carrier color signal transmitted line-sequentially is applied to a demodulator having such demodulation characteristics, a demodulated output waveform within a scanning period for a color par signal, for example, is obtained as shown in FIG. 5A.

It is assumed that information on the RY component is given on the (N+1)th line. Due to the characteristics shown in FIG. 4, in the Nth line (B-Y component) of FIG.
On the N+1) line (R-Y component), vA is lower than the reference level.
As is well known, the SECAM signal is expressed by the following equation, so if this line-sequential FM signal is demodulated by the same frequency demodulator, for example, B- It is also shown that if the polarity of the demodulated signal of the Y component is positive; 11h, the polarity of the demodulated signal of the RY component becomes negative (the phase is inverted).

Since there is no delayed signal in the NTSC system, and therefore the amplitude of the color difference signal is 2:1 between the PAL system and the NTSC system, the carrier color signal amplitude of the NTSC system is doubled and synchronously demodulated in advance. The drawing is omitted, but instead, % is applied to the conductor 13.
The same result can be obtained by inserting an attenuation circuit and setting the carrier color signal amplitude to % when receiving the PAL system, and removing the doubling circuit and extracting the 1 carrier color signal when receiving the NTSC system. Still, the gain of the ACC amplifier circuit 11 is different from that of PAL system and NTS.
If you switch when using the C method and set the carrier color signal to have an amplitude ratio of 1:2, the switching circuit 14 and the double amplification circuit 72
The output signal of the burst removal circuit 12a is directly transmitted to the (R-Y) demodulation circuit 15a and the B-Y demodulation circuit 16 without the need for
b, the circuit is simple and practical.

Also, although drawings and explanations are omitted, the black and white signals that drive the charge transfer device (for example, COD) and the delay circuit are as follows:
The output signal of the subcarrier oscillation circuit 18 is used not only in the PAL system but also in the SECAM system.

In addition, not only can the impedance matching circuit (LC circuit) of the ultrasonic delay circuit, which was conventionally required, be reduced, but
Conventionally, demodulating SECAM color signals required two sets of discriminators and de-emphasis, but only one of each is required, resulting in a significant reduction in the number of peripheral components.

In addition, compared to the conventional configuration, the SECAM signal is

It is possible to eliminate ink rolling interference on the screen due to crosstalk that conventionally occurred when switching lines of FM waves containing harmonics, and the image quality is improved. Also,

In this way, color signal processing for PAL, SECAM, and NTSC systems can be implemented in highly integrated circuit elements, and the number of components including ultrasonic delay lines and their peripheral circuits can be significantly reduced, resulting in smaller circuits and fewer adjustment steps. It contributes to improvements in image quality such as line crawling and line crawling, and has great effects in terms of both performance quality and economy.
