Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled steel enabling the uniform photoetching of a deposited steel and the weld heat-affected zone as well as the base metal by reaging after welding, by adding a restricted amount of Ti, V, Nb+Ta or Zr to an Mn-Ni-Al-Cu-Mo steel having a specified composition.
CONSTITUTION: This steel consists of 0.05W0.18% C, 0.15W1.0% Si, 1.0W2.0% Mn, 2.5W3.5% Ni, 0.5W1.5% Al, 0.7W1.7% Cu, 0.1W0.4% Mo, one or more among ≤0.5% Ti, ≤0.5% V, ≤0.3% Nb+Tb and ≤0.5% Zr, and the balance Fe. The steel is age hardened to ≥ about 40 HRC and worked into a metallic mold. It can be easily worked into a metallic mold even after build-up welding. By carrying out age hardening again at about 500°C, the steel can be uniformly photoetched without causing oxidation and deformation.
