Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a durable multilayered film reflective mirror enhanced in resistance to deterioration of adhesion of the reflective films and scratching of the mirror faces, by interposing SiO2 or Al2O3 between a base and the layers to be applied to the base in order to avoid contact of the surface layer of organic polymer with a titanium oxide layer. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the base G made of glass, ceramics, plastics, or metals, or the like is thoroughly cleaned to form a cleaned face, and on this face a single layer is formed consisting essentially of TiO2 having high refractive index, or a multilayer is formed contg. TiO2 in at least the last layer, and it may contain other substance, such as ZrO2, CeO2, or ZnS. As a substance having low refractive index, AlF33Na, MgF2, CeF3, SiO2, etc. can be used, and multilayered films L are formed by alternately laminating them in the best film thickness, and on these films, a stable oxide A made of SiO2 or Al2O3 or its mixture is formed. The mirror face is completed by further coating said oxide A with a light nontransmitting protective film C made of org. polymer.
