Abstract

PURPOSE:To bestow a spiking function, by dividing a space inside a tire into two chambers by a movable dividing film made of an elastic body provided with a spike. CONSTITUTION:When a titled tire is used as a conventional tire air quantity of a chamber 6 is increased and a chamber 5 is reduced. With this, a movable dividing film 4 is shifted to the chamber 5 side and a spike 7 is made to retire within a hole 8. On the contrary, when the air quantity of the chamber 6 is reduced and the chamber 5 is increased the spike 7 can be made to protrude from a tread 3 by shifting the movable dividing film 4 to a chamber 6 side. A tire can be used as the conventional one and a spiked one by adjusting the air quantity of each of the chambers 5 and 6 like.

Currently, damage and loss caused by the use of spiked tires has become a major social problem in regions with heavy winter snowfall. Many car users change their ears to spiked tires at the same time as the snowy season arrives (usually in the evening), and continue to wear them until there is no need to worry about snowfall the following spring. However, when roads are not always covered with snow, spiked tires are not necessary, but the economic and time burden associated with changing tires is large, so drivers do not change them.

The movable segmented membrane (■), which is an elastic body with appropriate stiffness and is the support for the spike (■), is kept in its position by the air pressure () in the A chamber (■) and the B chamber (■). It is not rigid, but has appropriate flexibility (the ground pressure is higher than 1-V). The tip moves to the ground contact surface of the tread part ■, and when it reaches a constant level of ground contact pressure, it returns to its original position.

Therefore, when the road surface is hard, i.e., it is not covered with snow or ice, a certain level of ground pressure acts on the tips of the spikes. Its tip moves to the ground contact surface of the tread part ■.
