Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the safety of the fan by a method wherein a motor for the fan is stopped rapidly by the signal of a circuit detecting that something has touched the guard of the fan even when the motor is being rotated by an inertia after the electric source for the motor is cut. CONSTITUTION:When one approaches or touches the blade guard 10 of the fan, the signal is despatched from the detecting circuit 13 to a decision circuit 14, a contact (b) is switched to a normally opened contact (a) and a D.C. current is newly supplied from a D.C. current source 16 to the motor 11 to stop it rapidly. When a timer circuit 14a is provided in the decision circuit 14 and a time is set at about 10-20sec, a relay contact 15 is switched to the normally opened side (a) by the operation of the decision circuit 14 and the motor is stopped rapidly when one approaches or touches the blade guard 10 during the period of time corresponding to the time of inertia operation after the supply of an A.C. current for the fan is cut off.
