Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to dispense with an auxiliary power source such as a pump and to shorten the length of a connecting pipe to thereby reduce the cost by a method wherein a heat exchanger on the non-service side of a heat pump cycle is provided within a hot water tank of a solar heat water heater. CONSTITUTION:The hot water in a heat collecting plate 18 to be heated by solar heat circulates according to the natural convection system such that it flows into the hot water tank 17 through a communication passage 19 and returns again to the heat collecting plate 18 through a communication passage 20. The heat exchanger 16 on the nonservice side of the heat pump cycle is housed within the hot water tank 17 so that a liquid heat medium discharged from a compressor 13 and decompressed through a service side heat exchanger 14 and an expansion valve 16 is heated and vaporized. Further, the heat medium gasified by the heat exchanger 16 returns to the compressor 13 through the connecting pipe 22. With the above structure, it is possible to dispense with the auxiliary power source such as the pump and an auxiliary hot water storage tank and to shorten the length of the connecting pipe to thereby reduce the initial cost and the running cost.
