Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive composite wire for welding 9% Ni steel, by contg. a flux contg. alloying materials in such a way that the metallic compsn. over the entire part of the wire has the compsn. equal to the compsn. of ''Inconel '', etc. in an Ni hoop consisting substantially of only the Ni. CONSTITUTION:General pure nickel contg. 99wt% Ni and the balance consisting of Si, Mn, P, S, Fe, etc. is formed to a hoop having about 0.1-1.0mm. thickness and about 5-35mm. width. A flux consisting of such powdery alloying materials of Cr, W Mo, Fe-Mo, Ti, Fe-Ti, Fe-Nb, C, Si, Mn, etc. that make the metallic compsn. over the entire part of the wire (hoop and alloying materials) equal to the compsn. of Ni-based alloys suited for welding 9% Ni steel such as ''Inconel '', ''Hastelloy '' or the like and about 3-15wt% wire of a slag formation agent consisting of metallic oxides, metallic fluorides, etc. is contained in the above-mentioned Ni hoop, whereby the composite wire is obtained.
