Abstract

PURPOSE:To reset a microcomputer securely even when a power source is turned off for a short time by detecting a drop in power voltage through a voltage level deciding circuit and lowering the voltage at a reset terminal below 0.8V. CONSTITUTION:When the power voltage VDD drops to 3V by turning off the power source and then rises again by turning on the power source, no current flows through the Zener diode 9 of the voltage level deciding circuit 6 once the VDD reaches (point C), and a transistor (TR) turns off. Consequently, the voltage at a reset input terminal 3 drops below 0.8V (point D). Then when the VDD rises again by turning on the power source to reach (point F), a current flows through the Zener diode 9 to turn on the TR10 and the reset terminal voltage rises again. In this case, the point of time when the voltage reaches 0.8V is F and its time tF; and the point of time when VDD=4.5V is E and its time is tE. Then, when time tF, -TE is longer than 10-20mus, resetting is performed completely.
