Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the weight of an electrode plate group while maintaining the plates in good contact with each other by making a plastic bar to penetrate through the current collecting lags of the plates which are made of grids prepared from an acid-proof plastic. CONSTITUTION:After a thin lead film layer 4 is fixed to a grid-like base 3 made of an acid-proof plastic, an active material 5 is provided over the layer 4 so as to make an electrode plate 1. Next, plural pieces of plates 1 are positioned parallel to each other, and a bar 7 made of a plastic is made to penetrate through the penetration holes 6 of current collecting lags 2 so as to join the plates 1 into a given plate-group shape. After that, the lags 2 are immersed in molten pure lead having a temperature of below 350 deg.C for 0.2-1sec. As a result, since molten lead is instantaneously deprived of its heat due to the lags 2 and the bar 7 to solidify, the bar 7 and the lags 2 can be fixed together. Consequently, the electric connection among the plates 1 can be secured while realizing weight reduction by use of the plastic member.
