Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a photomagnetic recording/reproducing medium which has the ROM and RAM functions, by forming alternately a reproducing film, e.g., an amorphous magnetic film, etc. for photomagnetic recording and an optical recording/reproducing film, e.g., a metallic film, etc. on a disk-shaped transparent substrate. CONSTITUTION:An ROM part containing pits 2 and an RAM part containing an amorphous alloy thin film 19 are formed alternately in fan-shapes on a disk- shaped transparent substrate 3. A reflecting film 4 and aprotecting film 5 are provided to the pit 2. Thus a photomagnetic recording/reproducing medium 1 is obtained. The recording, erasing and reproducing are performed by forming descending 22 and ascending 21 facilitating axes for magnetization as shown by arrow marks to the film 19 and by means of binary coded signals 1 and 0. The descending 19 signal 0 is first irradiated with the laser light to raise up the temperature higher than a Curie point. Thus the facilitating axis for magnetization is recorded in the form of an ascending 21 signal 1. In such way ROMs and RAMs are formed alternately for an optical recording/reproducing medium.
