Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure that the volumetric capacity on the inside and outside of bellows are maintained to be constant even when a shaft is moved laterally, by a method wherein a closed space formed by communicating the inside space of a bellows surrounding a shaft and the inside space of a bellows not surrounding the shaft is shielded from a closed space provided on the outside of the bellows. CONSTITUTION:When the shaft 20 is moved axially rightwards, the bellows 24, 25 are contaracted with each other, and the volumetric capacity of the interior of the bellows 24, 25 is reduced, so that a fluid in the interior is compressed. On the other hand, the bellows 23 is stretched, and the volume of the interior thereof is increased. However, since the interior of the bellows 24, 25 and the interior of the bellows 23 are communicated to each other by communicating passages 26, 27 having low resistances, the internal pressure of the bellows 23 and that of the bellows 24, 25 are rapidly eqalized. In addition, since the sum of the volumes of the interiors of the bellows 23, 24, 25 is constant, the eqlaixed pressure is substantially equal to that before the movement of the shaft. This applies also to the space S2, so that no pressure difference is generated between the space S1 and the space S2 by the movement of the shaft 20.
