Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent lowering of the efficiency of an air conditioner at a partial operation and to deminish the inconvenience for stopping the operations of both compressors at the time of a turn-over by providing each suction pipe or discharge pipe of compressors with a check valve.
CONSTITUTION: Check valves 13a, 13b are installed in suction pipes 12a, 12b of compressors 1a, 1b. With the check valves 13a, 13b, there is no fear for the leakage of coolant vapor into suction sides of the compressors 1a, 1b, that is, there is no leakage of the coolant vapor from high pressure side to low pressure side through compressors 1a, 1b, whereby lowering of the efficiency of an air conditioner can be prevented. And, since the pressures within the suction pipes 12a, 12b and discharge pipes are equilibrated, a starting torque becomes smaller than that of prior art, while at the turn-over from one unit operation to two units operation the second unit can be started without stopping the cycle.
