Abstract

PURPOSE: To settle and remove fine particle sludge and sludge particles in sludge water efficiently by giving fine oscillations to sedimentation beds.
CONSTITUTION: Fine oscillations of the extent giving no hindrance to water flow are applied to respective stages of sedimentation beds 3 by means of a vibrator 4 or ultrasonic transmitter provided with a sedimentation support frame 2 suspended and supported with the beds 3 in multiple stages. As a result, settled sludge particles do not stick on the surfaces of the beds 3 and are held in the state liberated near the surfaces of the beds 3. The sludge particles settling successively on the beds 3 are compacted by gravity, and the collision among the particles is assisted by the fine oscillations transmitted from the beds 3, by which flocculation is accelerated, and the sizes of flocs are increased to form easy to settle flocs. Therefore, the sludge particles settling onto the respective stages of the beds 3 are removed without disturbing watr flow and the efficiency of sedimentation is improved.
