Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the thickness of the above-titled apparatus without increasing the size of the same and to lower the pressure loss by air flow in the apparatus, by disposing two counterflow heat exchangers on both sides of a ventilating unit in an outer box, and forming a primary and a secondary air inlet and outlet ports in the heat exchangers at the portions thereof located near the ventilating unit. CONSTITUTION:A first and a second fans 20, 21 are set into operation simultaneously by a motor 19. The first fan 20 draws open air A into heat exchangers 1, 11 as shown by arrows of the solid line in the drawing and feeds it into a room B from grilles 18a, 18b, while the second fan 21 draws room air B into the heat exchangers 1, 11 as shown by arrows of the dotted line in the drawing. In these heat exchangers 1, 11, air B flows in opposite direction to the flow of air A, and after exchanging heat between them, discharged to the outside A from outlet ports 14a, 16a. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to make an efficient use of the inner space of the outer box 8, to increase the degree of freedom for selecting the ratio of side dimensions, and to reduce the thickness of the apparatus without increasing the size of the same.
