Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize life increase and stabilization of an enzyme electrode, which has an electron transmitting body, by making the electrode to contain 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane, a redox compound. CONSTITUTION:An enzyme electrode is constituted of an electron collecting body, an oxidation-reduction enzyme such as glucose oxidase, xanthine oxidase, amino acid oxidase or alcohol oxidase, which has flavin adenine dinucleotide, and a redox compound which works as a mediator in the transmission of the electron of such an enzyme. As the former redox compound, 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinomethane is used. For instance, equal amounts of 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinomethane and graphite powder are mixed, and the mixture is pressed and molded, thereby forming a disclike electrode. After that, glucose oxidase, an enzyme, is fixed on a surface of the disc- like electrode by a crosslinking method with glutaraldehyde, thus an enzyme electrode is formed.
