Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to transport fluid under pressure with no need of causing agitation, impact or the like, by causing change in the volume of a pump chamber by use of an alloy causing a linear, thermoelastic martensitic transformation and having a memory to its expansion and contraction.
CONSTITUTION: When a timer 10 is set into operation for starting transportation of fluid under pressure and a wire 3 of a configuration memory alloy, extended through the inside of a resilient protetive tube 4 in the menner that it is isolated from the fluid to be transported, is heated by passing current through the wire 3, the wire 3 causes contraction in its axial direction. This results in reduction of the volume of a pump chamber 1' which is defined by an outer cover 1 made of bellows or the like that can be expanded and contracted in the axial direction and end covers 2, 2' to which both ends of the wire 3 and fixed, so that fluid in the pump chamber 1' opens an outlet valve 7 and is delivered via an outlet pipe 8. Subsequently, when current supply to the wire 3 is stopped by the timer 10 after passing of a prescribed time, wire 3 is cooled and expanded gradually and the volume of the pump chamber 1' is increased resultantly, so that fluid is drawn into the pump chamber 1' from an inlet pipe 6.
