Abstract

PURPOSE: An antistatic material, consisting of carbon fibers prepared by combining carbon fibers with rubber or a thermoplastic elastomer, having improved strengh, flexibility and abrasion resistance and a sufficient electric conductivity, and suitable for automobiles, etc.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A synthetic rubber of thermoplastic elastomer rolled into sheets by rollers are packed into a mold, and (B) carbon fibers arranged at a desired angle are laminated on the sheets alternately and press-molded at 100W150°C for 5W40min under a pressure of 7W10kg/cm2, cooled and taken out of the mold to give the aimed antistatic material. The content of the component (B) is preferably in the range of 10W60wt%.
