Abstract

PURPOSE: A normally nonadhesive foam having excellent weather resistance, heat resistance, cushioning property and heat insulation, obtained by reacting a specified acrylic low-MW copolymer with a specified polyisocyanate compound.
CONSTITUTION: An OH-containing acrylic low-MW copolymer, glass transition point ≥-10°C, MW 750W10,000, is obtained by copolymerizing (a) 1mol monomer containing one OH group in the molecule, e.g., 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate, with (b) 5W500mol alkyl (meth) acrylate capable of providing its copolymer having a glass transition point ≥-10°C, in the presence of 0.1W20wt%, based on component (b), OH-containing chain transfer agent and/or polymerization initiator, e.g., 2-mercaptoethanol. Next, 100pts.wt. said copolymer and 20W250pts.wt. polyisocyanate compound, e.g., tolylene diisocyanate, are foamed in the presence of a catalyst, e.g., triethylamine by adding water and thereby producing CO2 gas.
