Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve durability by using the composition consisting of a resin selected from the group of specific epoxy resin, a curing agent and a silane coupling agent having residual org. groups possessing an epoxy ring for the sealant of electrooptic devices such as liquid crystal devices. CONSTITUTION:The adhesive composition consisting of the three kinds; an epoxy resin of one or more kinds selected from the group of epoxy resins of bisphenol diglycidyl ehter type, glycidyl ester type, cyclic or linear aliphatic epoxide and polyol polyglycidyl ether type, a curing agent (aliphatic or aronatic diamines, etc. or acid anhydrides) and a silane coupling agent having residual org. groups possessing an epoxy ring (3-glycidoxypropyltrimethaxysilane or the like) is used for sealing of electrooptic devices, particularly devices using liquid crystals, electrochromy, etc. Such composition is coated on substrates by a screen printing method, after which both substrates are stuck by pressure and set by heating, whereby the sealing of good durability is accomplished without causing generation of bubbles, degradation of liquid crystals, etc.
