Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a heat resistant and noncombustible core by applying the coating prepd. by mixing a heat resistant silicone resin, synthetic fluorine mica and frit on the clad covering of an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The coating consisting of mixing 100pts. heat-resistant silicone resin, 40pts. synthetic fluorine mica powder (KMg2.5si4O10F2), 30pts. frit powder (600 deg.C m.p.) and 60pts. solvent (xylene) is coated on the core of an opticl fiber consisting of a glass fiber core 1, a silicone resin clad 2 and a silicone rubber covering 3 as its sheath, and is baked for one hour at 150 deg.C. Thereby, the heat-resistant and noncombustible core is obtd.
