Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous operation in a folding machine for folding slitted ribbons laid one upon another, by enabling the order of signatures as well as the positions of both correcting rollers and turn bars to be controlled in accordance with the order of the ribbons. CONSTITUTION:Printed ribbons 2, 3 are slitted by slitters 4 through 7 into ribbon strips A through F which are then positionally corrected at their lateral positions by turn bars 8 through 13 and at their longitudinal positions by correcting rollers 14 through 19. Each six ribbon strips are laid one upon another in a nipping portion 20 and then are folded in a folding portion 21. The signatures 23 thus obtained are transferred to a paper discharging portion 22. The laterally and longitudinally positional corrections are made by drive motors controlled by instructions from a control circuit, while the arranging order of the turn bars 8 through 13 is made by a selecting switch which is associated with the positional correction control circuit. Thereby, by the positional correction is made in accordance with the superposing order of the ribbon strips A through F of the singatures 23.
