Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the concentration of ozone in waste water accurately and rapidly, by using an ozone electrode provided an ozone decomposition membrane such as a silicone rubber membrane dispersed activated carbon on an oxygen transmission membrane of an oxygen detector having the oxygen transmission membrane. CONSTITUTION:An application solution in which powdered or fibrous activated carbon is dispersed in a solution which dissolves silicone rubber or fluororesin in acetone, is applied on an oxygen transmission membrane 4 and is dried and then, an ozone electrode 1 is prepared providing with an ozone decomposition membrane 8. Said membrane 4 and 8 are attached on the tip end part of an opening part of a cylindrical support 2 of the electrode 1 by an O ring 9 and a cap 10. An electrolyte 3, a reduction pole 5 and an opposite pole 6, are put in the cylinder 2. The electrode 1 and an oxygen electrode 11 are soaked in a solution in which O3 is dissolved such as waste water treated with O3 and the O3 concentration can be read directly by the difference of voltage produced in the electrode 1 and 11 by an operation circuit 12 and an indicator 13. Thus, the measurement is performed accurately with a simple apparatus.
