Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce an adsorption unit of low ventilation resistance and a low fabrication cost by forming and laminating the flat board paper made by mixing powdery or fibrous activated carbon and asbestos fibers in the presence of an org. binder into a soecific shape.
CONSTITUTION: Powdery or fibrous activated carbon are uniformly dispersed into asbestos fibers, and these are mixed and made into paper of 0.1W0.5mm thicknesses by using acrylics, polyacrylic amides, or latexes decomposing at 150W450° as a binder. Such paper sheets 3, 4 are corrugated in the same manner as for corrugated boards and these are cut to suitable sizes and are laminated and bound. Further a block 1 is heat-treated at about 250W450°C to decompose the binder thermally and to restore adsorptive activity. Necessary strength is given by impregnating alumina sol, silica sol or water glass before or after the heat treatment.
