Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent abnormity under a low environmental condition, by the constitution in which a reset signal is transmitted many times until an electric circuit returns to a normal program, in a watchdog timer. CONSTITUTION:A watchdog timer circuit which gives a reset signal at failure to an integrated microprocessor 1, consists of an oscillator I and a reset circuit II returning the oscillation of the oscillator I to the initial state. The oscillator I consists of a Schmitt trigger inverter 2 and a capacitor C1 connected between the input and output of this inverter. While the reset circuit II resets the capacitor C1 with a periodical signal from a pulse output terminal of the microprocessor 1, the oscillation circuit I is not oscillated, but if it is not reset periodically because of a failure such as runaway of the program the circuit I is oscillated and the processor I is reset with the oscillation output.
