Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent blowing-over an lighten the pressure due to backfire by means of a communication passage when backfire is generated and prevent settling of a check valve by installing in an intake passage a check valve equipped with the commucication passage which has a small diameter and is always opened.
CONSTITUTION: A check valve 15 is installed in the intake passage 12 in a cylinder head. The check valve 15 is constituted of a body 15a having a conical head, lead piece 15b which touches the outer periphery of the body 15a, and the stopper 15c for restricting the movement of the lead piece 15b, and prevents blowing-over from an intake valve 13 by closing the lead piece 15b. The communication passage 15d which interconnects the upper and the lower flow in the check valve 15 is formed in the top edge area 15b of the body 15a. When the countercurrent with the heavy pressure due to backfire is generated, the pressure is discharged to the upstream side through the communicaton passage 15d, thus eliminating the direct effect upon the lead piece 15b.
