Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the deformation and movement of a coil, by a method wherein split into two type spacers having allowance grooves at each inner corner thereof are installed or the outer periphery of insulating plates being provided around a coil, while pre-compression force is imparted to these spacers, thereby each thereof is intimately bonded with other. CONSTITUTION:Insulating boards 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D of a material such as FRP are provided around a superconductive coil 3A which is fixed and hardened into a race-track shape by one-body forming by a method such as molding, and the outside of the boards 4a-4D is surrounded by a pair of spacers 5A, 5B which are seperated into upper and lower portions and in which holes 6A are made. These spacers are mated together so that they hold the superconducting coil 3A with the insulating boards 4A-4D between them and the coil. Allowance grooves 7A, 7B and 7C, 7D are provided at the square corners of the cross section of the spacers 5A, 5B so that the spacers 5A, 5B can be deformed elastically when they are mated and when a pre-compression force is given to the spacers 5A, 5B they absorb and keep it. Thus the superconducting coil 3A is protected from deformation and movement, so that it is fixed and stabilized completely.
