Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the line speed automatically, by sampling input data by plural optional sampling periods corresponding to the line speed and by comparing and collating the sampling results with a specific pattern and by detecting the line speed on a basis of the sampling period for coincidence. CONSTITUTION:The input of a specific pattern inputted to an input terminal 10 is inputted to sampling circuits 20-2n having sampling periods for every line speed and is sampled from the middle point of the start bit for start-stop synchronization by set periods respectively. Sampling results are stored in registers 30-3n and are compared and collated with the specific pattern of a register 40 by a comparing and collating circuit 50; and only when they coincide with each other, the output is applied to a display register, and the line speed is detected on a basis of this result.
