Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain superior water permeability and separating characteristics by casting and coating a liquid for making a cellulose acetate film of prescribed rates of acetylation on the inside surface of a tubular body then allowing the solvent in the liquid to evaporate thence solidifying the same in water and further subjecting the same to heat treatment.
CONSTITUTION: Cellulose acetate of 57W60wt% average rates of acetylation are dissolved in an org. solvent, and the soln. is cast and coated on the inside surface of a tubular body. Next, the ventilation treatment from one end side to the other in the tubular body and conversely the ventilation treatment from the other end side to the one end side are executed alternately both at 5W15m/sec ventilation rates more than twice in total of both directions. Thence, 5W20wt% the solvent in the film making liquid is allowed to evaporate, after which the tubular body is immersed in water in a direction reverse from the above-mentioned final ventilation direction. Further, the tubular semipermeable membrane having undergone such immersion in water and solidification is heat-treated at temp. about ≤100°C, whereby the crystallization of the membrane is accelerated, the mechanical strength is increased and the separating performance improved.
