Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide an ignition apparatus for an automobile wherein only the voltage falling point of the ignition timing signal wave shape is used to carry out the dwell time control so that it can meet various ignition timing detection sensors without depending on the signal shapes. CONSTITUTION:The ignition apparatus comprises a comparator 24 for carrying out dwell time control of the region II, a multivibrator 26 for carrying out dwell time control of the region III and a dwell time controlling circuit including an amplifier 11, etc. for the region I. In the region I, the dwell time control is carried out according to the control curve (a) for quick acceleration and the control curve (b) for steady and deceleration driving, in the region II the constant dwell time control is carried out, and in the region III the OFF time control is carried out for securing a discharge period only for a minimum necessary discharge period. Thus, the ignition apparatus would not be influenced by the output wave shapes of ignition timing sensors, and by scatter of the output voltage and the wave shape.
